Some new hot things on the ProjecTravel horizon

Hi everyone. With Compass Magazine doing better than ever, more new traffic coming to the site daily, our facebook group growing organically and people starting to follow us on Twitter,  we’ve decided it’d be a jolly good idea to expand the portal and add some new and exciting features to the ProjecTravel.com portal.

What are they you may ask?

Well not to give away the full surprise, but today we launched a plugin provided by the good people at Wibiya that basically streamlines integration and makes the overall user experience of the magazine better, it can be found at the bottom of every projectravel.com page. You can connect with facebook, see what we’re tweeting without actually having to leave the site. But more importantly if you’re not a native English speaker, and we have been geting traffic from those places where English is not the first language, you can now translate the magazine into eleven languages including American English. ;)

That’s just the beginning however, in September, we will be socializing the site even more by opening it up to our contributors and facebook community friends first, and later to the general public, but don’t worry you won’t need to bother yourself with a tedious sign up process when we do launch – it’ll all be easy peasy to make your user experience the absolute best we can offer.

Then in 2010… well let’s just say we have a few trick up our sleeve that we’re not quite ready to share just yet, but they will be pretty nifty as well.

Best to all our readers,

- Management.

Moving Forwards in All the Write Places

Don’t know if everyone’s seen, but we’ve been trying to get you articles up on the site as they come in – if you want to write for us, remember all you have to do is write to submissions@projectravel.com and we’ll back to you with what how, when and the like.

Moving on, we’re now Mobile – meaning, no more zooming in, out, or navigation problems, if you have an iPhone, you can read your favourite compass magazine articles on your way to and or from work as well on the metro, but and anywhere else there is a mobile connection to the net.

SeedRocket – the competition in Barcelona went exceptionally well, we’re now at least 2 months ahead of where we were, and we got there only in two weeks, not even. Finally, we have another survey, this time 5 questions, you’ve been to the site, and we want to know how to make it better, what we can improve – the link is here, help a small travel magazine out by devoting a minute of your time.

Thanks a million,

- Management.

Magazine Goes Live and We’re Heading to Spain

There’s so much that has happened in the world of ProjecTravel over the past few days that to put it bluntly, we don’t really know where to start this little update.

First, we’ve officially gone live with the online magazine, launching at 8:00pm GMT on July 1st with ten articles.  The four hours the mag was live that day saw 200 unique visitors, not much by say Expedia standards, but considering we didn’t advertise it any, not bad in the least, since launch the numbers continue to grow and which we’re all very excited about.

In the coming weeks and months, the magazine will also be undergoing some functionality changes that will make it more intuitive, provide easier access to content as well as generate more dynamic content for our readers to engage in.

Now. In other recent news, we were asked to participate in the final round of SeedRocket’s “Capus de Emprendadores” (link in Spanish) or Entrepreneurial campus, an eight day forum where we will in effect go through an entrepreneurial boot camp of sorts and vie for one of three spots to acquire funding. Fingers crossed.

Lastly, and least-ly, we had some ups and downs over the past few days with logos for the site and magazine, apologies to any confusion that this may have caused – but in the end decided that the best thing to do was to listen to our community and utilize the same colour scheme that was working for us from the beginning, as such, here’s the new logo.
